A brand designer on social media, Bryant Almany, recently executed an idea to concoct a UNC basketball game jersey featuring the geographical outline of North Carolina.

It’s safe to say Almany nailed it. He has the Tar Heel State spanning from side to side on the front of the road-themed jersey, putting “UNC” in bold at the center of the state, with the player’s number below and “to the west” to be in harmony with the bulkier eastern portion of the state.

Of course, the school’s patented argyle-pattern strips run from the armpits to the bottom.

The design (in the pictures posted below) has gained considerable traction among prominent Tar Heel fan accounts on social media. And on Tuesday afternoon, Tar Heel Nation’s recent promotion of the look caught the eye of high-flying UNC basketball legend and retired 22-year NBA forward Vince Carter.

It appears Carter approves of it, as he commented on the following post with three “fire” emojis:

An hour before Carter seemingly gave his full endorsement, Almany revealed a photoshopped pic of the jersey on a flexing UNC senior guard in three-time 2023-24 ACC Player of the Week and conference-leading scorer RJ Davis (21.3 points per game this season). Check it out:

There’s no denying the above getup would be a slick one for the Tar Heels and likely perform well in the sales department. We’ll just have to wait and see if it garners support from the program.

UNC’s halfcourt logo is the state outline. Perhaps the school should employ it for an on-brand special jersey.
